You freed them, now help feed them! Thanks to you, rescued circus lions experienced their freedom. Your support has given them the retirement they deserve. 100% of your donation will go to ongoing care and feeding of these lions.
In 2014 and 2015, Animal Defenders undertook the biggest rescue mission of its kind to track down every illegal circus in Peru and rescue the animals. In 2015, they completed the work having rescued over 100 animals. 24 African lions were saved from extreme neglect and abuse and a further 9 lions were saved from a Colombian circus.
When they were rescued, the lions were starving, most of them had the tips of their toes cut off to remove their claws, and many had their teeth smashed. ADI began the process to rebuild their lives, including extensive dental surgery for many lions. Best of all, ADI found a perfect new home where they can live in peace, and in May 2016, support from GreaterGood.org donors helped these lucky lions make the journey of a lifetime on a specially charted flight to South Africa.
Now, we hope that you will continue to be a part of these lions life-changing journey and donate to support their care, feeding, and able to help build habitats where they can enjoy spending time together as family prides in the care of ADI at Emoya Big Cat Sanctuary, South Africa. Thanks to this mission there are no cruel circuses in Peru and the lions that were saved can enjoy a long retirement home in the African bush.
Thanks to you, we have been able to fund the life-changing journey to fly these lions to freedom. Now we need your help with their ongoing care. 100% of your donation will go toward ongoing care and feeding of these rescued lions as they enjoy their retirement at the Emoya Cat Sanctuary, South Africa. Just $12.50 feeds one lion for one day.
