GreaterGood.org is celebrating 10 Years of Giving Where It Matters! Help us protect wildlife from poachers by supporting CourageousK9s like Dodie. When you #Give10, you cover her expenses for two days working to fight ivory poaching.
Meet Dodie, the CourageousK9 who works tirelessly to protect elephants and rhinos on the front lines of the war against ivory poachers. Dodie was 7 months old when she arrived in Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo with a mission to save wildlife, along with her sister Lily and four others. Dodie and her pals are bloodhounds, a special breed capable of detecting and following scents for miles—an invaluable skill in the fight against poachers.
Now seven years old, Dodie is the all-star anti-poaching dog in Virunga, tracking down criminals even through the most challenging terrain. Dodie is full of life and vitality; incredibly loyal and compassionate towards her trainers, and fiercely territorial when challenged. She harnesses her superb sense of smell, energy, and dedication to detect ivory, rhino horn, and bushmeat, often hidden in suitcases and trucks. She is also able to detect much of the weaponry used by poachers, including wire snares, guns, gunpowder, and ammunition.
Dodie needs your help to ensure her work can continue—with Virunga National Park losing 90% of its wildlife population in just two decades to poachers, Dodie and her friends are the best line of defense against these criminals. However, Virunga Park Rangers lack funding to pay for Dodie's care, feeding, veterinary costs, and transportation, which are especially expensive in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where everything has to be imported from abroad.
You can help. Your urgent support will ensure Dodie and other brave dogs like her can continue to harness their superb sense of smell, energy, and eagerness for the greater good of the planet. 100% of your tax-deductible donation will go to support dogs like Dodie assisting with anti-poaching efforts.
CourageousK9s, a program of GreaterGood.org, is committed to supporting dogs working to protect people and the planet. These brave dogs are trained specifically to help children, veterans, victims of violence, those with disabilities, and in cases of disaster; as well as protect habitat and save wildlife. We partner with organizations utilizing animal's unique intelligence, innate senses, and individual willingness and desire to work to achieve goals that humans may not be able to accomplish without them.
